Peter started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1988 and has performed at various prestigious festivals, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Sydney Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Comedy Festival and Just For Laughs – just to name a few.
His intelligent humour has always set him apart as a performer who can comfortably straddle comedy styles as disparate as satire, observational comedy and reactive comedy with easy.
Peter’s major TV hosting roles have been Backberner (1999-2002, ABC TV), The Australian Film Institute Awards (2004), The Einstein Factor (2004-2009, ABC TV), The Loaded Brush (2009, ABC TV), You Have Been Watching (2011, The Comedy Channel) and The B Team with Peter Berner (2016-2017, Sky News Live). All up he has presented more than 500 hours of national television program content in varying genres including comedy, news and documentary in live and taped environments.
On FM radio, Peter has been the breakfast co-host of Triple M’s The Cage (2007), which was networked live each day along the east coast, and has also hosted his own solo radio show, The Peter Berner Experiment (2008-2009), on Triple M. On AM radio he has hosted weekend afternoons on 2UE (2012).
Simon Kennedy – MC
Simon Kennedy is in demand as a comedian for corporate events and the comedy circuit. He also keeps very busy as a voice-over artist, and writer for television, radio, and print.
Kennedy’s TV appearances include Stand Up Australia (The Comedy Channel), Joker Poker Series 1 & 2 (Channel 10), Today Show (Channel 9), Harry’s Practice, Home & Away (Channel 7), Thursday Night Live (ONE HD) as well as numerous television commercials for the UK and Australia. Simon was also seen as an Australian finalist in Last Comic Standing on the NBC Network in the USA. He is also developing a few TV projects of his own.
His skills as a voice artist saw Simon provide all the character voices for the award winning animated short films Atonement Tonight, a parody of the Iraq War, and Barney The Whitehouse Terrier, screening at various Academy Award qualifying festivals internationally. Also, keep an ear out for Simon’s voice in the upcoming short feature The Adventures of Roman Pilgrim by acclaimed Director Anny Slater.
Simon’s first Melbourne International Comedy Festival show was Fishing for Cigars in 2001, followed by his successful one-man show The Angina Monologues at Sydney’s famed Old Fitzroy Hotel Theatre and the 2003 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Simon can occasionally be seen treading the boards in efforts such as The Theatre Sports Celebrity Challenge (2005) at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, Simon Kennedy Stands Up! (with a Slice of Bevan) 2006 at Brisbane’s Powerhouse Theatre and 1 NIGHT STAND a comedy gala at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre, Townsville Entertainment Centre and Sydney’s Capitol Theatre along-side Pete Rosethorn, Julia Zemiro, and many more.
In addition to hosting The Show With No Name and Kennedy & Philp on Sydney’s Nova 96.9fm, Simon was the Chief Creative Writer for the Nova Radio Network across Australia for 7 years. Simon has also provided characters and comedy sketches to Triple M Sydney.
Simon has picked up a few awards for some unknown reason too; Commercial Radio Industry Awards (‘ACRA’s) for Best Comedy Segment (1998) and Best Radio Production (2004), and again in 2006 he was a finalist for Best Comedy Segment.
